Understand project and workspace access
Choose the scope and role before inviting a collaborator.
Read the transcript
Open Share inside a project to manage access to that project. Check the dialog title before entering an address. The default invitation role here is Only View. Only View gives read access. Can Edit allows changes within the selected scope. Check the recipient, scope and role before sending. This walkthrough inspects the controls without sending an invitation. Share from the workspace applies at workspace scope. Use project access when someone only needs one project. After sending a real invitation, check acceptance using the intended account; that step was not exercised in this demo.
Before you start
- Owner access for the intended sharing scope.
Step by step
- 1
Choose the scope
Check the sharing dialog title. Workspace access and access to one project have different scopes.
- 2
Choose the role
ONLY VIEW gives read access; CAN EDIT allows editing within the granted scope. Review the address, scope, and role before sending an invitation.
- 3
Verify acceptance
PENDING... means the invite is not accepted. The recipient must sign in with the invited email address.
- 4
Manage inherited access correctly
Workspace-managed roles may be disabled in project sharing. Ask the workspace owner to review those permissions at workspace level.
Check the result
The intended collaborator has accepted the invitation using the intended account and role.
